My approach stresses a thorough understanding of "the basics"... thoroughly defining the essential knowledge and skill(s) upon which everything else depends, and is built. I began teaching professionally in the Bay Area about 30 years ago. I have taught in a variety of settings includings classes, group lessons, in music stores, for school districts, at students' homes and in my own private studio. Every person learns differently and I am highly skilled at detecting this and using it to my students' advantage. I taught general music, choir, piano, and band in the public schools. I also worked in an after school youth orchestra, teaching woodwinds. Before that, I taught guitar to friends and some beginning students. I also helped my classmates who were learning guitar. I have mostly worked with beginners, and some more intermediate students. I have taught in the classroom setting and small group lessons, and some one-on-one lessons. I feel my greatest strength is teaching beginners and elementary aged students. Read More

I'm a fairly new private lessons teacher finishing my Music Education/Composition Bachelor's degree. I have studied with some of the best flute and drumset players. I have performed many genres throughout my musical career. I have also played music for many different settings such as church, football, parades, celebrity shows, nonprofit organizations, rallys, and competitions.
