I taught general music, choir, piano, and band in the public schools. I also worked in an after school youth orchestra, teaching woodwinds. Before that, I taught guitar to friends and some beginning students. I also helped my classmates who were learning guitar. I have mostly worked with beginners, and some more intermediate students. As already stated, my approach stresses understanding a mastery of "the basics" of musical knowledge and instrument-specific knowledge and skills -while adapting to the individual strengths/weaknesses and interests... of the individual students. Among other things, my approach emphasizes empowering students by quickly and efficiently imparting essential and useful knowledge and "real skills" that enable students to know and demonstrate, at will, music knowledge and ability. My students tend to become knowledgeable and skilled rapidly, having a clear understanding of the basics of musical knowledge and instrument-specific skill, imparting confidence in their knowledge and ability, while providing them with the knowledge and skill(s) to solve musical problems and achieve musical goals. I'm a fairly new private lessons teacher finishing my Music Education/Composition Bachelor's degree. I have studied with some of the best flute and drumset players. I have performed many genres throughout my musical career. I have also played music for many different settings such as church, football, parades, celebrity shows, nonprofit organizations, rallys, and competitions.
