For beginning students who are children, I usually start with a hodge podge of the Alfred Piano Series and the Suzuki Piano series. I also make sure that they have a holistic music education by including the study of music theory as well. For my adult students, I teach at the pace they are interested in learning using the Adult Alfred Piano series. I believe that tailoring what I teach based on what the student wants to learn is very important. Sometimes that means I will incorporate different types of music other than Classical. This will help students stay motivated to keep learning and practicing! I am excited about teaching Musika piano students. My passion to teach and share what I know about playing the piano comes from my experience as a child. At 7 years old I started taking formal piano lessons. I ended up going to college and majoring in Piano Performance. Performing in Europe came next for me after competing as a classical pianist. A Memphis native, Stephen L. studied with legendary Jazz pianist Donald Brown at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before heading to New York City to finish his studies and further hone his skills in some of the most well-known jazz venues in the world.
