Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My methods include a combination of the Pace Method, Alfred, Bastien, Faber and Hal Leonard Methods, and most recently the Helen Marlais method for succeeding at the piano. For students that are really serious about achievement and study, I am able to work with them to take the ABRSM exams. Sometimes parents want to give their children the experience of setting high musical goals, working toward musical deadlines and reaching a high standard of achievement at the piano. Read More

There is additional research suggesting that improvisation stimulates the brain in ways that promote resilience, responsiveness, creativity, innovation, my teaching is very important because current research in both education and youth development indicates the strong correlation between music education and the development of strong academic and social/emotional learning outcomes among youth. The results are in: music in general and ensemble training in particular nurture strong social and emotional learning skills, e.g., collaboration, critical thinking, self- discipline, and self-efficacy. I began teaching privately in college. I also was a teacher assistant to a music teacher at a local elementary school during my undergraduate years. Now as a professional educator, I teach middle school choir, private piano/violin lessons, play for my church, and, at times, direct my church choir as well. I love to encourage the art and discipline of practice and passion. I love to encourage students with recitals, awards, and celebrating each of their accomplishments on their journey of music education. Read More

If they are a complete beginner and just want to learn to read and have an understanding of music, I will begin them with Faber's Adult Piano Adventures level 1 and go from there. As students progress into the advanced level, I use less method books and mainly focus on repertoire. I teach all scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions to all students for I believe it is important to know this no matter what style of music you are learning! Read More
