I help students have an efficient position in order to play in tune and feel relaxed. I also focus on intonation, rhythm, and musical interpretation. In order to teach interpretation I show different ways to phrase the music with dynamics, tempo, bow stroke, and tone. For beginners, I focus on tone quality because most beginners do not know how to correctly use the bow to make a warm sound. While there is no "One-size-fits-all" for all students, I start most students off with Essential Elements or Suzuki. As they progress I try to include pieces they like, pop songs, and different genres. The variety helps them stay engaged, learn a bit about different styles to broaden their knowledge, but also, have fun. As they get intermediate levels the paths diverge.
