I am extremely passionate about music and have been driven my whole life, so I show my passion in my teaching by my exuberant and fun teaching style. I like using all kinds of inspirational material such as listening to reference tracks of music that the student is interested in; to provide a more personalized experience in discovering what their sound is. This also includes doing art projects(such as painting and drawing) as I believe visuals are just as important to inspiring creativity as sound is. If the student does not know what they would like to do for the first part of the lesson I typically set multiple instruments around my studio and connect them to amps and start improving or playing something and have the student join in on the jam and then move onto having them take our over and then we go from there. I love seeing students develop a passion for music. Each student learns differently. A teaching style that may work for one student may not work on another. I try to do this by setting goals and doing my best to help them achieve those goals. Read More

I think it is important to keep the oral tradition of teaching alive so most of the content during lessons will be learnt by ear, though supplemental physical materials will be used. Learning primarily by ear will help build student's listening skills which will be useful down the road when rehearsing with others or learning new tunes quickly. The student will start learning songs that they choose right off the bat, this will keep them engaged and more likely to practice. Read More

My teaching experience starts when I was in high school. I taught private lessons as well as the lead instructor in our percussion class granted by the director. When I was in high school, I wrote to percussion scores for our marching shows. In my senior year, I was picked up by a musical touring group, and I was able to play drum set with professionals. After high school, I went to college and participated in wind bands, percussion ensembles, operas, and chamber ensembles. Read More
