I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music and vocal health. I graduated most recently from the University of North Texas with a doctorate degree in vocal performance. I am currently a PhD student there focusing on Performing Arts Health. I believe that one of the most important things a musician can do is to find and develop their own voice on their instrument. Listening to the greats like Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Jimi Hendrix, and Chick Corea illustrate how a unique voice can manifest itself and make the music so much more powerful. I am a teacher that understands that students move at different paces, because no two people are the same. I also understand that each student has different musical and artistic goals. I allow my students to set their own goals for lessons, as this places accountability on them and will help them grow more passionate for the art because they are more involved in the process of decision making. I started teaching lessons in high school to other students. I've been teaching privately for nearly 20 years now. I have worked for public and private schools teaching music lessons and ensemble groups. I was a graduate teaching assistant during my masters degree and taught technique and etude lessons weekly to undergraduate flute students.
