All people are empowered by learning to use their voice. This belief is at the heart of why and how I teach. I am passionate about my discipline because singing can be transcendent and allows us to connect with others in an extraordinary way. Therefore, I am driven to cultivate musicians who embrace their humanity through their emotional intelligence and artistic command. My approach to teaching voice revolves around the three components of evidence-based pedagogy: utilizing historic practices and voice science research, drawing from my experiences in performance, education, and research, as well as evaluating the individual needs of the student. I am extremely passionate about music and have been driven my whole life, so I show my passion in my teaching by my exuberant and fun teaching style. I like to focus on long term and short term projects to build confidence in a variety of ways. I expect regular practice if not daily, and I ask questions during lessons to stimulate critical thinking. I am very encouraging, but critique when necessary and isolate a problem to address it quickly to build confidence in the student. Read More

I am a passionate, caring and motivated teacher that identifies with music on every level. My love of music is clear through my passionate teaching and love of seeing others learn how to successfully be musicians without me. I have grown up with music since I was a young child and discovered that it was my future career when I was in middle school, having not looked back sense. I believe that one of the most important things a musician can do is to find and develop their own voice on their instrument. Listening to the greats like Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Jimi Hendrix, and Chick Corea illustrate how a unique voice can manifest itself and make the music so much more powerful. As a performer, I always encourage students to write their own music and enter competitions and or open mics as I've had a lot of experience in participating in them and can offer a great deal of advance as I continue to look for those opportunities. I also offer to help students with personal projects as I have artist experience in creating songs from the ground up and publishing them on streaming sites to share my art with others. Read More
