I am passionate about my discipline because singing can be transcendent and allows us to connect with others in an extraordinary way. Therefore, I am driven to cultivate musicians who embrace their humanity through their emotional intelligence and artistic command. I am extremely passionate about music and have been driven my whole life, so I show my passion in my teaching by my exuberant and fun teaching style. I like to focus on long term and short term projects to build confidence in a variety of ways. I expect regular practice if not daily, and I ask questions during lessons to stimulate critical thinking. I have grown up with music since I was a young child and discovered that it was my future career when I was in middle school, having not looked back sense. I believe that one of the most important things a musician can do is to find and develop their own voice on their instrument. Listening to the greats like Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Jimi Hendrix, and Chick Corea illustrate how a unique voice can manifest itself and make the music so much more powerful. As a performer, I always encourage students to write their own music and enter competitions and or open mics as I've had a lot of experience in participating in them and can offer a great deal of advance as I continue to look for those opportunities.
