For piano students I usually use Piano Adventures method books while supplementing with scales, pop and classical repertoire, theory, ear training, history and more. For ukulele and guitar we focus on strumming patterns, rhythm, chords, and repertoire anywhere from rock or pop to classical. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a Bolivian violinist/composer who grew up homeschooled with my two parents being educators. They would always emphasize the idea of the impossibility of teaching someone, meaning that I would have to teach myself before every class with them. Further in life, I was able to build reading, practice, and exercise habits due to this dynamic.
