For beginner students, they learn through the Suzuki method, parents are to take notes during lessons so that they can effectively help their child at home. For parents of children ages 2-4, the parent is encouraged to learn the violin as well. This is so that the Suzuki Triangle works effectively. Parents play a key role in every aspect of their child's learning and development of their violin skills. I am a Bolivian violinist/composer who grew up homeschooled with my two parents being educators. They would always emphasize the idea of the impossibility of teaching someone, meaning that I would have to teach myself before every class with them. Further in life, I was able to build reading, practice, and exercise habits due to this dynamic. For piano students I usually use Piano Adventures method books while supplementing with scales, pop and classical repertoire, theory, ear training, history and more. For ukulele and guitar we focus on strumming patterns, rhythm, chords, and repertoire anywhere from rock or pop to classical.
