I have had two students make first chair in All-State competition, and many Solo and Ensemble Award winners. My teaching style includes positive reinforcement, making and achieving small measurable goals that lead to big measurable goals, and teaching and instilling correct daily practice methods. I encourage each student to do their best each day and push through the difficult places. When something is too difficult for a student, I break it down into smaller, more understandable pieces, or change tactics to a different subject or piece. I don't believe there is nothing is better than having a student who has achieved a goal. So it is so important for me that my student progress at a rate that is fun, yet challenging.
