Nothing is more rewarding that seeing one of my students develop a love for music. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting goals that are realistic and acknowledge when a student has reached a particular goal. I graduate from Jackson State University with a degree in music and immediately began touring with Major Label artist and performing professionally at an early age. I am a member of The Grammy's and working/ touring with Grammy Award-Winning Multiplatinum artist as well as other artist within the music industry. My teaching experience dates back to my pre-college/ post high school days where I was a volunteer director of a community ensemble in Jamaica. This opportunity opened doors for me to teach music theory and private saxophone and flute lessons in a community based project that was geared towards using music for social development and change in the inner city youth. I eventually moved on to the college setting where I served as a Graduate Assistant who had the responsibility of providing private and supplemental lessons to students who were enrolled in the University, all while operating a private studio of my own. Depending on the skill level of the individual I adjust the lesson plans. All students shall do their basic scales and preliminary sight reading. For beginners (of all ages) proper technique will be heavily emphasized. This will include posture and form. We will then evolve into basic classical pieces to learn and continue to build on the fundamentals. With intermediate students we will begin to learn advanced scales and proper audition techniques.
