My first teaching was in summer music schools, then as an intermediate classroom teacher and music specialist (bands, choirs, musicals, folk dances, recorder, ukulele, classroom music and theory). I earned my Masters and began teaching university but have always taught privately as well. I work with parents to encourage the student to be self-motivated, so I make lessons fun. So I learn the students style of learning and pace then adjust the approach and music I will have for them. I constantly acknowledge any and all improvements , and welcome mistakes. I have been an assistant director and a head director; in charge of a full-blown musical, to making sure students can play Hot Cross Buns. Throughout all of these experiences, however, I have a deep passion for teaching private lessons and connecting with and motivating individual students to become their best. My music experience dates back to playing in the Jazz band in grade school, where I learned the foundational knowledge all music students should have. At Suffolk College, I played saxophone, which lead to starting a rb band with some of my fellow musicians on campus.
