My teaching experience started 5 years ago. I was a senior in high school and was teaching a beginning student the trombone. Throughout the past 5 years I have continued to teach students when I was able to. I encourage regular practice and maintaining a consistent schedule. I always say 10 minutes a day is better then 30 minutes every 3 days. I find great satisfaction and enjoyment working with music students of all ages and ability levels. The reward comes from seeing the development of a student to the point where they are accomplishing wonderful things with their musical ability. I graduated from BYU in 1989, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. I have been fortunate to perform with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Minnesota Mormon Chorale. My teaching experience dates back to when i was in college, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago. I would teach to earn extra money when i was in college, as well as accompany other musicians as a side gig. I also have some experience playing piano and singing at a local coffee house from time to time. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize with all my students as it develops the flexibility in the hands and fingers that is needed for the more challenging pieces of music.
