For beginners, I like to provide a custom packet of mine in which I send to my students to not only assess their current aptitude on the instrument but the packet will serve as a their fundamental guide in order to stay focused on progressing even while learning new and exciting music of their own choosing. I have been performing and teaching professionally for 15 years, since having moved to New York to study at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. There, I learned many styles of music and skills that I use to this day while performing. Matthew graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music with minors in Jazz Studies and Music Theory/Composition in Spring of 2021, studying saxophone with Dr. Salinas and Dr. Poole, and studying composition and new music with Dr. Karaca, Dr. Poole, and Dr. Austin.
