My teaching style ranges from student to student. For example I love to see my students develop whether they're coming to me as a beginner, basic, intermediate, or advanced student. If I have a gospel vocal student, I work with them on rifts and runs. If I have a classical piano student I work with them on fingering techniques. Alongside being an artist, teaching has been a great part of my life.  In addition to my artistic career,  I have had the privilege of having a  dynamic educational career!  My first teaching job dates back to 13 years ago.  Since then, my career has branched out into many facets of the field, both as a classroom teacher and as a private instructor.  I have had the opportunities to work with students of all ages, both in the academic and musical settings.  My current educational stint is that of a special educator who works with children with Autism.  In either setting, it is my goal as a teacher to get the student excited about learning the basics and then building the skills, so that he/she may perform to his/her fullest potential.  Read More

I'm a driven and patient teacher with a deep desire to learn and to share knowledge. I've been performing on piano/guitar/saxophone/voice from a very early age and have continued to refine my craft. I've performed in numerous musicals throughout K12 eventually leading to my time at UGA where I received my Bachelors in Music. I believe that real learning and development occurs during individual practice time--not in lessons. Lessons are the time for me to check in, give guidance, offer motivation and encouragement, correct errors, and brainstorm solutions, but progress can only be made with daily, deliberate work on the student's part. To this end, I like to use a practice journal with my students, in which I record weekly objectives and the student logs practice time and writes reflections. Read More

Always start where the student is, and take them from there. Always encourage and inspire students to be better than yesterday. Progress, no matter the amount, is progress. Take your own pace. If you have a specific deadline, for example a college audition, you will have to commit to practicing more than usual and we will create a plan of action. Also, I do write letters of recommendation.
