I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who love working with students and sharing my love love of music. I started playing classical piano since I was four. In 2009, I graduated from Tianjin Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Arts in Keyboards Performance. In 2017, I graduated from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies (Jazz Piano), and in 2019, I graduated from IU with a Master of Science degree in Music Education, along with Indiana K-12 General and Instrumental Music teaching certificate. I have been teaching students since the age of fifteen, accommodating every age between four and sixty-five. I have maintained a private studio for the past five years, before which I taught at the Florida State Summer Music Festival for intermediate and advanced pianists, delivering practice coaching, masterclasses, applied lessons, and lectures. I cater my teaching and methods to each individual student and his/her needs and goals. For beginners, I often use Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. After progressing past that, the Rubank books and Hite etudes work for many students. Starting around 8th grade, I introduce solo repertoire appropriate to their level. During lessons, I always have students work on some form of scale, sight-reading, and ear training. I have several duet books (and a Disney book!) that students love to sight-read from. Read More

For children who are beginning students of piano, I prefer to use Bastien or Alfred curriculum. These are available on Amazon or most music stores. For adults I prefer to use "The older beginner piano course." If you have a curriculum already, I am more than happy to review it to see if it could be used also. I am a singer/songwriter who enjoys the process of creating a song from start to finish. I also am a studio singer and love the experience of being in the studio recording my own original music.
