I enjoy setting goals with my students that are attainable and allow them to feel successful in their music study. I also want my students to feel that our lesson time together is a safe place to explore their musical growth, and I feel that this is only acheieved when students know that their teacher cares for them. My teaching follows the books quite a bit, so that the student remembers what was taught when they go home and practice. I like for the student to have a notebook that I can write in supplemental information. I understand that each student learns differently and I am able to differentiate my teaching methods to best fit the student needs. I took on my first students when i was still in high school and have been teaching ever since. I have had several studios throughout the years in different places that I have lived. For adults I prefer to use "The older beginner piano course." If you have a curriculum already, I am more than happy to review it to see if it could be used also.
