Methods change depending on a student's level.  I want a beginner to feel completely comfortable being a beginner.  We start with the basics and I adjust material to personal levels of development.  If you have previous experience, we will use the first lesson to assess technique and repetorie and advance from there.  I am aware of several piano workbooks that take you from beginner to level four, these are not always the best for every student. Jack Schabert is a Twin Cities based musician, composer, and educator. He performs professionally around the metro with various jazz groups, and is an Instructor of Percussion, Piano, Drum Set, and Jazz Studies at various music schools in the area. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. I've been teaching lessons for students and also giving advise for others for 35+ years. I've been told that I have a very gentle nature. I guess it's the way I was brought up. anyway.....I teach to a students strengths and weaknesses. For example; One may have a young sax student that has very good sound right out the gate but cannot understand the language on the page.
