For beginning students, I typically start with lessons I have developed to get them on the right track . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce bass parts that are appropriate for their first performance with other musicians. After grade school, I went to Northwestern State University to study Music Performance on a Violin Scholarship. Eventually, I graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's in International Marketing. I also took some guitar courses at Berklee Online. I've been touring professionally for 11 years and have been to all 50 states as well as 9 foreign countries. I began teaching private lessons in a music store around thirteen years ago. The store changed hands several times, but I remained among the staff of teachers through it all. My method for teaching is individualization. All my lessons are individualized for each student's ability level and musical interests. If need be, I use certain books to supplement my lessons and for personal at home practice. Normally I only recommend books to students that want to further their understanding and ability in sight-reading, drawing from my own experiences learning from various books and online sources. I often encourage my students to learn songs instead of just focusing on exercises and technique. Read More
