I personally believe in going as per the pace of the student. A progressive pace is important as well as a balance of not moving too quickly or too slowly for the students. I began teaching percussion immediately after high school. While attending EKU, I helped my former high school by teaching the percussion section during the marching band season. I taught the section every year for about 12 years before being hired as a full-time teacher and becoming the assistant director of the band. I still mainly focus on the percussion section every year, but my responsibilities have spread to assisting with other sections of the band as well. Read More

If the student does not enjoy the lesson then they will not enjoy playing the instrument! With this in mind, I make sure to enforce the joy of music and focus on the fun side of playing. I recommend students learning at their own pace. This is done by setting appropriate goals and focusing on what each student needs to reach those goals. He is currently working as the Marketing Director for the Gospel Music Workshop of America Inc., Lexington Metro Chapter and has previously worked for the Student National Association of Teacher of Singing – University of Kentucky as their Marketing Director, and The Lyric Theatre & Cultural Arts Center as their Community Outreach Coordinator Intern where he was a key member in the administration of the Lyric Theatre Youth Summer Program.
