I was raised with music. My parents favorite pasttime was listening to my Dad's collection of over 2000 records and having me decipher the lyrics. When I started playing guitar, I got every book I could find (because this was before the internet- and my family couldn't afford lessons) and studied them all, day and night for many years. For beginning cello students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki method elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
