I find that the most important thing about teaching, especially teaching music, is finding what your students are interested in and getting to know them on a personal level. As a teacher, I have to learn about the unique learning styles my students have, their individual needs, and their goals and dreams as a musician in order to best teach them. Praising accomplishments and encouraging public performances is also very important as a teacher, as for the student, that positive feedback will drive them towards more success in the future. During my time at Lock Haven University, I was the school's music tutor. After graduating, I taught for six months in a K-12 public school. I joined the world famous School of Rock and taught over 100 different students how to play guitar. I have also been a guitar teacher for Pittsburgh's Lincoln Park Academy of Performing Arts as well as the guitar instructor for the PA Cyber Charter school. I have experience teaching students of all ages and can teach any style of guitar playing as well as the associated music theory. Read More

I like to approach every student in a way that fits their particular goals. I began playing when I was 11 years old and clearly remember the teachers that motivated me. Instead of just having a set curriculum, every lesson was geared towards me and my ability. I always keep that in mind and treat every student on a case by case basis. Music should be fun and exciting, not feel like a chore! Read More

I'm very passionate about teaching and love to work with all ages of students. I had a studio in Mountain Top, PA for 25 years until our family moved to Utah. I recently relocated to the Lehigh Valley. I've performed with many orchestras and have coached many students to be able to compete and perform at Carnegie Hall for many years. I take great pride in being able to teach on an individual basis, meaning I teach according to what the student needs and wants to be taught. Read More

Considering my background, most students who want to study with me expect and want a serious, structured approach. In most cases, especially with beginning level students, I recommend using a method book with clearly defined progressive assignments, eventually supplementing by applying learned skills to whatever musical styles the student is interested in. More advanced students might need an explanation of theoretical concepts and applications, or technical studies. If they plan to be long term students, we might also aim to patch up educational gaps , such as reading skill, or technical problems such as proper hand positions along the way. Read More
