I grew up in the chicagoland area where my music career started young. I tried many instruments but eventually landed on guitar early in high school which has been my passion ever since. After High School I continued guitar and studied at Elmhurst College near Chicago, while there I performed with many ensembles in a large variety of genres and styles. I have toured internationally and around the country. The last few years I have been performing with Brass From the Past, a 13 piece ensemble performing rock, soul and motown classics from all eras. I like to keep the guitar lessons fun. Because my first experience with learning guitar/guitar lessons (when I was 9 years old) was very boring (just learning from a guitar method) I work at trying to make music fun. My teaching style will be blended into the lesson to help my students develop specific musical skills that they need to reach their goals and reduce the number of hours I then would have to teach them. If the student has nailed a lesson then we move onto the next level and or something more advanced. I will also be creating guitar lesson materials based on ways that are consistent with what they want to learn and achieve. Read More

The most important thing for me is that each of my students understands their instrument in their own terms, and so each lesson plan I develop is designed around an individual. I highly encourage questions, and interaction. One of my favorite things to do is find out a student's favorite bands/artists, and use those songs as a basis for the lessons. If a person already has a love for art, I find that examining those songs helps cement an overall appreciation and dedication to their instrument. Read More
