Music has always help a special place in my heart. I have been playing music since I was 6 years old. My mother is also a piano teacher. I was a traveling musician for many years playing with bands all over the country. I am currently attending the Spokane Falls Community College and am enrolled in their Audio Engineering program. I was in the United States Navy for 5 years. I am a very hands-on teacher. We do lots of improvisation and call and response games and sometimes I turn on a record or even bring a guitar to jam with the student. Playing drums is a very visceral, tactile excersize, and I often tell students, "That right there,that is how it's supposed to sound! Memorize that feeling and try to recreate it everytime." Every student learns at their own pace, and in their own way. Discovering what type of learner your student is (kinesthetic, auditive, visual), is essential in providing examples and assignments for the student to work on.
