I remember teaching my first sectionals in high school as an upperclassman to my fellow classmates. I've been hooked on the thrill of helping someone succeed ever since. I have since developed my own flute studio, with students ranging in age from 8 to adults, and all abilities, from beginners putting the flute together for the first time, to college music majors. I like to establish good fundamentals, and explain to each and every student exactly why I'm having them do something, and set clear goals in order to achieve whatever personal goals the student has for themselves and the flute. I have been playing the clarinet for 33 years.    Although; clarinet is my primary instrument, I actually started my musical career on the viola and have been playing that for 34 years.   During the course of my career, I have had the unique experience of leading a bag pipe band.  I have also made a special emphasis on my studies in Latin percussion due to my background in Salsa music. I usually start with the Rubank Elementary Method book. There are four books in the series and they are very comprehensive. Once the student progresses to the Intermediate book, I also add Selected Duets Volume 1. I have found that playing duets strengthens listening skills and intonation, plus they are fun! Solo and ensemble pieces are introduced as the student becomes more proficient and various performing opportunities begin to present themselves. Read More

I feel that I can relate to most students, no matter their skill level or dedication. I found my passion in music later in the game than most, and I know that I can inspire young musicians to be all that they can be.
