I always create a unique lesson plan for each student based of their age, skill, and most importantly the music style or genre they want to pursue. I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments. I am a dedicated and passionate instructor who loves watching students improve and succeed. In 2015, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance. I attended Wright State University to earn my Master of Music degree in Flute Performance and worked as a graduate teaching assistant during my time there. I graduated from Wright State in 2017. I have been teaching on and off for the last two years. I have taken classes in Instrumental Pedagogy designed to teach us the best skills to teach students of all ages. I teach in either the students' home or in my living room. I've found that the most important part of a student's musical education is their outside practice and, usually, students are only willing to practice if they are having fun and feeling motivated and encouraged. For a young adult or a prospective college student, I will generally focus on checking their embouchure, what their knowledge of major and minor scales are, how fluent they are reading sheet music, what reeds they should be playing on, and among things. We then move on to more advanced topics that would not be possible to cover in their band classes at their home school. I have been playing the clarinet for 33 years.    Although; clarinet is my primary instrument, I actually started my musical career on the viola and have been playing that for 34 years.   During the course of my career, I have had the unique experience of leading a bag pipe band.  I have also made a special emphasis on my studies in Latin percussion due to my background in Salsa music.
