I do not believe in the "cookie-cutter" teaching method, which means that I do not utilize the same teaching method with every student. I realize that each student is a unique individual with different learning preferences. With each student, I design a different approach that caters to the student's needs. For beginner saxophone students, I taught them basic saxohone skills for couple lessons, and I will choose either Rubank method or Jazz Phrasing by Greg Fishman according to students' interests. For beginner flute and clarinet students, I taught them long tones and scales in the beginning, and then I will use method book such as Rubank or Rose to help them enjoy to play these two instruments. For intermediate or higher level saxohpone players, I will design the individual lesson according to student's level, the lesson will combine of technique, chord scale exercise, ear trainning, improvisation, and tune learning. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at the University of Kansas, I moved to Chicago to pursue my Master's degree and studied with renowned flutist Dionne Jackson. While completing my Master's degree, I was able to study and learn from musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
