Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My teaching experience actually began in a limited capacity prior to starting college. I was fortunate to receive private flute instruction throughout high school, and as a result, I held roles as a section leader as a high school upperclassman. Upon my college graduation, I entered the workforce, all the while picking up flute students, primarily at a beginner level. I greatly enjoyed building a firm foundation with each student given their ability, so we had a solid starting point to build upon. Read More

I've always believed that everyone has their own unique learning style, and everyone learns differently and at different paces than everyone else. I like to have a more relaxed style to my teaching, to help keep my students at ease. I am a big fan of the Rubank elementary, intermediate, and advance methods. In addition I like incorporate sight reading into lessons due to being a common element in auditions. For high school students the I use Rubank books and supplement that with Rose etudes as they are often use as audition material in KY. Because music and the flute is a constant art of improving, I find it beneficial to record students so they can hear themselves as others do. Having recordings of a student also allows them to remember where they started and where they have grown to. I find that positive reinforcement of all elements of flute playing are essential.
