I am a 21 year old musical performer, educator, and composer residing in New Smyrna Beach. I started playing the Flute when I was 11 and the Saxophone when I was 12. After only a few months of playing both instruments I knew I wanted to study and teach music for a living, so in high school I got involved in multiple music competitions, out-of-school performances, and other extracurriculars. After the past few years of intense practicing and studying in college, Ive had the privilege of playing the Flute in performances with the Orlando Symphony Orchestra, performing Jazz on Saxophone at the Orlando Museum of Art, and frequently attending recording sessions with some of the top musicians in Central Florida. Most of my students are playing the flute or piano for an extracurricular/hobby activity. Therefore, I do not want any student to view lessons as work. Above all else, lessons should be fun! I want to challenge my students but never overwhelm them. I work with students at their own pace and try to make the environment as fun and as laid-back as I can. It has a CD, with the band in the background , so it makes it fun for a practice session at home. I also learned "Brain Gym" from one of my flute teachers. I always like to incorporate that especially if the student has some confusion or is stuck on an area like a certain rhythmic phrase, or anything hard to unravel, as well as reading music.
