I have played music since first grade, starting out on the piano. after dabbling with violin and other instruments, I gradually moved toward my current primary instrument. I teach students the scales of the drumming. I teach all of the 40 international drum rudiments. Also, i teach students how to sight read drum music. I teach them ear training. I also teach them about how to be extremely versatile on the drum set. For beginning students, I generally introduce 'Syncopation' by Ted Reed along with 'Stick Control,' the PASIC 40 Rudiments, 'Alfred's Drum Method' for drum set, and technical exercises. For more advanced students, I like to use books like Rick Latham's 'Advanced Funk Studies,' David Garibaldi's 'Future Sounds,' 'Portaits in Rhythm' by Anthony Cirone, and 'The Art of Bop Drumming' by John Riley. Of course, there are things that I encourage such as posture and proper technique, among many others, yet I will always have a focus on MUSIC and helping you get to wherever you need to learn, not by theory alone but through putting what we learn into practice.
