For beginning students who are children, I start with some simple rhythmic concepts and some easy sight reading. I stared playing drums at the early age of 5. I graduated from Musicians Institute, one of the premier music institutions in the world. I have a passion for teaching drums for any age or skill level. I have toured the world as a professional drummer since the age of 21. I currently tour, give lessons, and own one of Ohio's best recording studios. I have played drums on over 150 records. My teaching methods are largely dependant on the needs and experience of the student. For begining guitar, bass, and key board students I generally work with several method books, and supply supplimentary materials as required. I believe that each student is unique, and what works for one student might not be sutiable for another. I am very much a people person and enjoy adapting my teaching styles to the individual. Some people want to learn a very specific style of music, and others are open to learning everything. In middle school, I began performing and teaching music during the summers at Vacation Bible School for children ages 3-10. Throughout high school, as a member of a variety of bands, I performed at a wide array of venues around New England. During this time, I ventured into song writing and musical arrangement. I also spent some time giving private trombone, bass, and guitar lessons in high school. Along with teaching music, I have much experience working with students ages 2-18 as a summer camp sports director, youth director at a teen center, and a soccer coach and trainer. Read More
