Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. All of my students have the same basic foundation. On top of that foundation we add in specific tutorials geared towards the type of music that they want to plat. We identify key elements and styles within that genre of music that their interest in. Then I construct a specific lesson plan geared towards that particular style. My teaching style encourages meticulous time keeping and a good feel. The student will learn to count while drumming and also keep real time as in seconds and minutes. The student will learn the importance of the metronome "a mechanical or electrical instrument that makes repeated clicking sounds at an adjustable pace, used for marking rhythm, especially in practicing music."(dictionary.com) The student will learn how to describe time signatures and there application in various drum solo's. My methods and practices depend on the goals and level of the student. For a beginner student, I like to start with a mix of genre-based learning and fundamentals. We will go over the most important and common drum beats that correspond to different genres, the most useful fills, and technical aspects such as posture and technique.
