I started playing guitar at age 8. In my formative years I studied with various instructors around central Indianapolis until mid year of '85. Upon this time I studied a full year with James Lee Thorpe whom eventually played, toured recorded with Sweet F.A. They released albums with MCA Chrysalis Records. Every student learns differently, so by finding out what inspires my student, I am able to create individiualized lesson plans that cater to my student's needs without losing focus on the fundamentals of music. Music is such a blessing and should be fun! Ample time is given to students to discover their own music and inherent rhythms while studying the vast pedigree of music that has come before us. If teachers skip the fundamentals, there is no foundation. I think the best teachers integrate fun with drills which creates the best results. I am a competitor by nature, so I have a goal to get the best out of my students. I will do what I have to do to make sure these students can play by the time we are done. The best feeling for me is to see a student develop their own passion for music.  Therefore I do not believe in forcing a student to progress at a certain pace.  That said, I like to develop skill sets to a very strong level before moving forward to new skill sets.  I am a firm believer in acknowledging progress and positive reinforcement.  Above all else, I believe the students goals and interests are truly what guides the lessons.  I may explain and design a path for the student, but it all comes back to the destination that they desire.
