My method varies for each student since every student will learn differently. I start by assessing where a student is at in terms of skill level and what their intentions are for learning how to play drums/percussion. For younger students, I'll start with getting their coordination together so they can begin to play and be involved in the learning process. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, I also ask the students what do you want to achieve today in this lesson, or this week. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

My teaching experience started the last year of attending Heidelberg University when I was required to instruct a high school student drum lessons as part of my internship. After graduation in 1991 I had my first vocal student in my home. In 1995 is when I had my first experience teaching in a music store environment. The store was known as Howland's Music World and was there until 1997. In 1997 during my last few months at Howland's Music World, I was hired at Hubbard Music as voice instructor and piano instructor and worked there till 2000. Read More
