I have a few different methods depending on a students interests.  A majority of my current students study concert and/or marching percussion with me. With either of these styles, I like to start by developing their sense of timing, reading, and technique. For this, I use a combination of the Mitchell Peters books in addition to packets that I've developed over the past 10 years. If teachers skip the fundamentals, there is no foundation. I think the best teachers integrate fun with drills which creates the best results. I am a competitor by nature, so I have a goal to get the best out of my students. I will do what I have to do to make sure these students can play by the time we are done. I am an avid music lover, performer, and teacher. I was lucky to study piano from a young age and have the amazing pre-collegiate experiences of appearing on MTV's Made and opening for the likes of McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, and Bela Fleck. I then received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where I studied saxophone performance as well as piano, songwriting, and audio production.
