As students progress, I like to spend more time teaching music theory and how the harmonies and melodies of pieces actually work together. At this stage the music becomes more difficult and lengthy, so I like to group phrases of the piece in sections until they can be played together cohesively. I began taking private lessons shortly after I joined the band program in middle school. I continued to take lessons all throughout high school and college. Shortly after graduating high school I was offered the position of drum instructor. During college I taught for several years as the drum instructor at Winter Haven High School. In January 2004 I left Stockholm for Madrid, looking for new experiences as a Percussionist, Composer and Producer. In Spain I shared stage as well as studios with various artist such as Aute, Beatriz Luengo, Andy Lucas, Victoria Abril, David Bisbal, Paco Ortega, Habana Blues, David Bustamante, YADAM and Cruceta Flamenco among many others. I then moved to Miami, where I have been residing for the past 12 years. During this time I have been Musical Director, Vibraphonist, Percussionist and Composer of my own project Alfredo Chacn Groove, with which I have recorded 3 albums and have performed in clubs and festivals.
