Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. There are many terrific methods and books available for musical development. An easy and enjoyable starter is Essential Elements. The Eubanks series is good, especially the advanced flute book one. There are some great solo books especially the Kris books 1-3 that come with nice piano accompaniments. Students really benefit from scale technique development coupled with arpeggio and varied articulation studies like Klose for Clarinet and Melodiusvand Progressive Studies for Saxophone. Read More

I was a full time public school band director for four years, and have taught all the way to the college level and adults, teaching classes in jazz studies and private lessons on saxophone. As a teacher, I try not to stress rote learning but instead focus on explanations for why music works the way it does. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument. Because I believe every student is unique, my teaching style depends on what is best for the student. Some students are kinesthetic learners who benefit most from using gesture, movement, and doing things hands-on, while others are aural learners who can pick music up by ear, but may struggle with reading music.
