I am a professional multi-instrumentalist living in Los Angeles, performing, teaching, and recording regularly on saxophone, flute, clarinet, and trumpet.  I graduated from Oberlin Conservatory in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance.  Since graduating from Oberlin, I have had the chance to travel and perform around the country and world with many fantastic musicians in a variety of genres.  I specialize in jazz, but have classical training and experience in a wide varieties of music from salsa to funk. I've been teaching music for a little over 5 years (2014). I have started many kids who don't know if they would rather learn guitar, drums, or piano. So I give them a tour of all three and show them the basics before they decide their favorite. I encourage consistent practice and practice methods that ensure that the students always feel a sense of improvement without frustration. I think it is very important for the Student to start playing recognizeable melodies as soon as possible so that they can relate to performing for either a recital or for friendly family and fried rectial so that they can start feeling good about themselves and where they are headed. When I start with a student, I try to find out what kind of goals they have in learning about clarinet. Whether it's just to learn how to play a few songs or if they want to audition into music school, I channel wherein music their passion lies into my teaching. Regardless of their goals, my hope is that with all of my students, I can give them a new perspective of music and help develop the same passion I found in clarinet within their learning and music making. There is no greater reward to me than having a student walk away from a lesson feeling more inspired to play.
