When I start teaching new student I usually use Sergey Rozanoffs method and also my fathers Sergey Gutorov senior methods on both instruments clarinet and saxophone. Usually with a beginners for the first few lessons I start solfge and music theory and later continue introducing instrument. It is very important for woodwind players to learn from very beginning how to use air and embouchure right way. My style is to understand the needs of the student first and only then decide how to approach our lessons. Everybody needs to go at a different pace and not all students need the same things. I like to see my students become proficient sax players but I feel that the job is only complete when they become good musicians. I opened my clarinet studio while in college. Over the next decade, my studio grew to over 40 students. It was a diverse studio with clarinetists of all levels and ages! I am excited to be teaching privately, and building my studio again, here in Florida! Lessons with me will be a good mix of work and fun.
