As a teacher, my primary belief is in working together to create the best practice system that is possible for each individual. I feel that the students always do their best whenever they know that the people around them support them and are also working to make sure that they are getting the best education possible, and this includes the parents as well. For every student, no matter the age, I first ask what they want to gain from this class/lesson. Once that has been determined, I make sure the student understands basic fundamentals of music using the Suzuki method, or the Feierabend method, depending on how old the student is. I started my first band Director position after I graduated from LSU in 2008. I was blessed to help a band grow from 12 to 39 in the 3 years I was there.
