I love working with students and helping them discover their love of music. I love working with students of all ages. My individual approach to teaching allows me to find, and help students with their individual needs. Lessons start with a warm-up that I have designed based on input from nationally renown soloists and teachers on Saxophone and Clarinet as well as my own experiences as a professional player and teacher, followed by etude work from one of the many books that I can recommend at the first lesson and wrapping up with the solo literature that we are studying at the time. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Standard of Excellence Method Book 1. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of those fundamentals, I will begin to introduce other method books and solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. Fundamentals will still be a major part of every lesson even after the student has grasp them. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lesson engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
