Nothing is more rewarding that seeing one of my students develop a love for music. Therefore, it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting goals that are realistic and acknowledge when a student has reached a particular goal. This helps the student to become more eager to learn, more willing to spent that time each day practicing. I must know what inspires the student so that I can successfully tailor my teaching, my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Once again, my overall goal is to develop a personal artistic voice for each student. My teaching style is flexible to style and type of music that the student wants to play, and I facilitate their growth in that specific genre of music. I also like to expose my students to types of music they would have never thought possible to play on their instruments. In culmination of all these efforts, I always try to run a recital where my students play whatever they want at the skill level they currently possess. Read More

I eventually moved on to the college setting where I served as a Graduate Assistant who had the responsibility of providing private and supplemental lessons to students who were enrolled in the University, all while operating a private studio of my own. Finding someone who can play your instrument better than you can often be more inspirational than finding a new piece that is slightly out of your comfort zone or using a method book that, at the end of the day, is supposed to help a student reach the ability level of the person the student aspires to be.
