For beginning students, I prefer to use Essential Elements by Bruce Pearson. This is the book I learned from and have been using to teach. I enjoy this book because of its progression system and the incorporation of solos throughput instead of just exercises for the students to play through. Their unique path will be a plan with proven techniques using a developed system based upon my experience of success. During the lesson, I want every student to understand the why behind the request.
