Each student has their own motivations for learning the instrument, their own personal goals with the instrument and their own personalities. The material I use for my students is partially chosen by myself to keep the student in line with appropriate repertoire for their skill level. In addition to the material I choose, students are encouraged to bring in their own musical interests to work through as well. After all, no one wants to learn an instrument if they cant learn their favorite songs!
