I am a passionate performer who pushes students to not only do their best, but also to learn the history and theory behind their pieces and have fun while doing so. As a cellist, I have performed with the Bellevue Youth Symphony, Sammamish Symphony, Waynesboro Symphony, and Washington State University chamber groups. For all beginning students, I start with the Suzuki books. They introduce new techniques in a comprehensible way that helps build upon fundamentals before progressing to more advanced techniques. After a bit with Suzuki, I like to add the Dotzauer etude book, which helps to focus on one technique per etude, building on what we learned earlier in Suzuki. I'm a multi-instrumentalist and composer with over 15 years of teaching experience. I have been playing and composing for over 20 years. I'm passionate about composition, improvisation, music theory, and microtonal music in particular. I'm also trained in classical, jazz, and contemporary styles, as well as a capable producer and arranger. I am encouraging and patient and believe that clear communication and respect is essential to have fun and learn.
