I am a passionate and dedicated teacher who strives to provide a well structured and personalized lessons to my students. I am a graduate of Whittier College, Class of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Music Performance. My main instrument is Cello and my secondary instrument is Piano. Each student learns at their own pace and it's important to understand that not everybody learns the same. Setting both short and long term goals with the student helps me understand what they want out of lessons. This makes it easier for me to engage with them and bring it back to something relevant to them at the end of the day. For example, no child understands advanced rhythm unless you disguise it in familiar terms e.g. using the phrase "run po-ny run" to describe two eighth notes sandwiched in between to quarter notes. I hold various Principal 'cello positions, co-founded the Polish Music Reference Center at USC with Wanda Wilk, in the 1980's; co-founded Symphony 47 with Floyd Clark and had my New American Quartet for over 18 years, which also toured England, in 1997. I performed many overseas concerts; was Yo Yo Ma's pre-concert lecturer at the Wadsworth in 1994; coached Samuel L. Jackson for his movie role as a 'cello playing cop in 2000, and performed with Herbie Hancock in a World Peace concert in 2008, with my quartet. Read More

I asses ability based on hearing pitches and singing them back. I work out of the Suzuki method books not using it strictly. Kummer and Feuillard for duet sight reading and Schoeder for etudes. Students ability is measured by how many hours they practice which I give specific instructions on how long they should work with each exercise. Every student uses a notebook to make sure they remember what was assigned. Read More

I like to give my students a range of music they can choose from something that they would like to play, something that would make them want to practice because they are interested in learning It. All my students will have homework. They have till the next time I see them which is usually a weeks time period.
