I have been teaching since I was 17, both in private lessons and group settings. My individual lessons and sectionals are always with cellists, though I have assisted with high school orchestra classes and chamber groups comprised of mixed instruments. I also have experience coaching sectionals of collegiate cello students and working one-on-one with advanced, non-major cello students. I personally have taken lessons from and performed in masterclasses for cello professors at most of the major colleges/conservatories in the US, the Principal Cellists of the Chicago Symphony and Vienna Philharmonic, and soloist Alban Gerhardt. I started sharing my musical knowledge at the age of 14, when I was in Venezuela. I was a part of the biggest and most successful music education entity in the world. Its name is "El Sistema" and it is a nonprofit organization funded by the Venezuelan government. It has more than 300,000 students and it keeps on growing up despite the crisis in Venezuela. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students ever since. I am a public schools orchestra director who has taught in 2 school distrcits in New Jersey and now will be teaching in the Orange County Public Schools. I fell in love with my cello at age 12, when my mother brought it home as a birthday present. I competed in the NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) where I received 3 A+ grades, for my performance of Haydn's cello concerto #1 in D minor, Bach Suite #3, Boccherini cello concerto and Vivaldi sonata #3. My first teacher, Alexander Goldfield once said, "Music is just scales and chords". If nothing else, I practice my Cossman exercises at least 1-2 hours per days for agility and intonation. Read More
