I have been a musician almost my whole life, starting out as a singer in a children's church choir when I was five. I started playing cello in the fourth grade through the public school system in California. I am classically trained, but I love all different styles of music. Once students have grasped the fundamentals of the instrument through beginner repertoire, we will explore music of increased difficulty according to the student's preference. As a cellist, it is standard to visit Popper etudes and J.S. Bach's six suites. Mike Block's Contemporary Cello Etudes book has several fun techniques, such as slapping, chopping, and singing while playing, which would be great for intermediate players. We will explore several areas of repertoire and find something interesting to the student. Read More
