I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. I want to make sure that they understand throroughly before moving on to the next concept. I have completed my two years of Suzuki Pedagogy training from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and I am a certificated cello teacher by the American Suzuki Association. I am doing my DMA cello performance degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). I have many experiences on teaching all kinds of students. Learning isn't a photocopy process which means a lot of the learning process is a responsibility of the student. I view my job as a teacher is to 1) make sure the student isn't getting overwhelmed, 2) hold the student accountable for their learning, and 3) guiding students through experiences that will facilitate their learning. My goals as a teacher are to 1) bring students to the highest level of technical ability they are able to attain, and 2) develop in the student the highest level of musicianship possible through theory and ear training. I got my Bachelors in music performance on cello, but I started on piano and violin when I was six years old.
