We also keep it fun of course and play duets together! Instilling proper technique is crucial to healthy playing of the cello. I give systematic instructions on how to navigate the cello. My teaching style can best be described as adaptable. Every student can learn and every student is different. Some students need structure, some need to be encouraged and some just need someone to help them polish their skills. Whatever the case may be, it is my job to meet the student where they are and provide support that balances what they need and their personal goals. My first teaching experience actually begins in my teens when I would teach my little brothers how to play the cello. This has given me important experience in teaching young children from the age as young as 4 years old. From there on I have taught other children and some adults totaling 3 years of total teaching experience. As a music education major I spent a lot of time learning pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation. I've written dozens of lesson plans including those for students with special needs. Unfortunately my time as a teacher has been rather limited which is something I'm working on changing. I had one student who I was able to work with during my last year of college.
