I was raised with music. My parents favorite pasttime was listening to my Dad's collection of over 2000 records and having me decipher the lyrics. When I started playing guitar, I got every book I could find (because this was before the internet- and my family couldn't afford lessons) and studied them all, day and night for many years. Classical, folk, blues, rock, metal and more. At 17 I played my high school battle of the bands and won with a standing ovation from the audience. Read More

I'm a independent freelance performance artist, sound engineer, and educator. I started teaching music and audio production in 2012. I graduated in 2016, and started pursuing a career in audio production in film. Once I find out where the student is at, wether they are learning their first chords or songs, or they have been trying for a while or just getting back to their old habit of picking up the instrument, the goal is to set the mark where one will wait eagerly for the next lesson, to show off their new found skill. For children who want to play violin and piano, I start with the suzuki method and try to find some music that they will identify with, like disney music or the soundtrack to frozen. For children who want to play guitar, I start by teaching them the essentials in person and giving them notes to practice from (Names of strings and chords, strumming patterns and music reading). Once they have progressed past the basics, we will find beginner jazz or rock or whatever instructional books are appropriate. Read More
