I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 1977, I graduated from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Performance. In 1999, I was certified to teach Music K-12 by the state of North Carolina after attending NC Central University. From 2005-2006 I served on the faculty at Music Academy of North Carolina in Greensboro. After completing my Master's Degree, I joined the faculty at Central Piedmont Community College in 2011, where I have taught several classes including Applied Guitar, Instrumental Repertoire, History of Rock and Roll, Music Appreciation, and Fundamentals of Theory. I am a multi-genre cellist who is passionate about helping students reach their full potential as musicians. I have been classically trained since the age of three, and studied classical theory and composition at Harvard University. However, towards the end of my college experience I began to learn jazz and blues and ended up pursuing a Master's degree in Contemporary Performance. As I begin to understand the student's musical goals and interests, I can develop a specific curriculum that I know will not bore them or lose their attention.
