Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My main focus is helping the student improve while enjoying the process. A musician is more likely to stick with it if it's fun. If it's classical on doublebass the book of choice is Simandl or something that teaches fingerings. Maybe the bassist wants to play jazz. Once we've established a basic working of character and music theory we will begin to learning the anatomy of our instruments and how to handle and care for them. Now the fun part begins. The teaching methods I use for young beginners are a combination of Kodaly and Orff (both standard methods of public school music) as well as straight traditional notation and music theory ('tablature' is usually reserved for older, more experienced students). I'm a firm believer in teaching the fundamentals of music, while at the same time, making it fun and engaging for the learner. Therefore, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student who has been working hard on learning something accomplish their goals and improve. I encourage all students to practice as much as possible. There is no way to improv without practice. From Church to Opera to The Blues. I sang in church my formative years and in choir all through Jr. High and High school, continuing through college in various ensembles, madrigal (Accapella Baroque), and congemporary, also, a stint with Civic Opera in Puccini's La Boheme.
