For my beginning guitar students, we begin with basic chords and simple melodies to develop motor function, finger strength/dexterity, and calluses on the fingertips. After that I start teaching them how to read music and progress onto harder pieces. During this time, I also incorporate teaching the student a song of their own choosing in order to keep them engaged and excited about learning the play music. For piano students, we begin working out of the Bastien piano series immediately, and my percussion students learn from the Hal Leonard Percussion books. Read More

It is a privilege to be able to be a part of the development of a musical goal no matter the age or skill level. I take it upon myself to make sure that each student achieves his or her musical goals. I start all my beginners with getting to learn their instrument, the fundamentals of music like scales and progressions and some fun simple songs or melodies.
